Ecommerce and Health Industry : Most Visited Medical Information Websites

5 June 2009 01:38 by Dima

Recently I’ve posted some information about the state of ecommerce in car industry. I think it would be useful to continue analyzing the impact of ecommerce on diverse industries and outline the advantages of electronic commerce for any of them in harsh economic climate. Today my target is health industry.

If ecommerce stays relatively bullet-proof to the crisis, health industry on the web should remain invulnerable as well. No matter what the state of your purse is, your health is always a subject of primary importance.

Still, in accordance to TNS survey, the medical companies’ spending on direct-to-consumer advertising will be reduced to $4.7 billion that year comparing to $5.2 billion in 2007. According to other statistics these cuts on advertising will be approximately 10% higher than in 2008.

This decrease is provoked by the forced cuts on budget. Marketers are finding the solution in making their marketing efforts more targeted. This leads to the predictions of the decrease in the relative direct-to-consumer advertising.

Marketers have to adapt to new circumstances in flat lining economy and be more creative. They start implementing diverse marketing offline approaches including more loyalty cards, discounts and coupons. These methods are not expensive and proved to be effective. Still, online marketing is regarded as a must for the majority of marketers who are about to invest more in Internet marketing, Website development and SEO.

There’s the list of the top health and medical information resources compiled by Hitwise. These are the great examples of wise e-marketing approach to the health industry related web-sites creation.
